The official signing of the agreement took place on 16 April at the University of Lodz Rector's Office building. The agreement was signed by the Rector of the University of Lodz, Prof. dr hab. Rafał Matera, the Director of the City Library in Lodz, Dr Halina Bernat, the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and History of the University of Lodz for the Quality of Education, Dr Sebastian Latocha and the Head of the University of Lodz Student Dormitories, Anna Felisiak.
As part of the cooperation, ethnographic research is being carried out to design and open a branch of the Library on the Student Campus, which would meet the contemporary model of reading and lifestyle. The new place on the cultural map of our city will be called "Olimpia" and will soon be opened in the Dormitory no.10 at Lumumby 12. The research is led by Dr Alicja Piotrowska from the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology of the University of Lodz together with students, including the University of Lodz Students' Government Council and other student initiatives involved in the project.
Cooperation with the local community connects our university with the social environment. "Olimpia" will be under constant "ethnographic monitoring" of the experiences of those using the branch so that its offer is tailored to the changes taking place in culture and society, and the needs of the residents of "Lumumbowo".
