The University of Lodz is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. This round anniversary is an excellent opportunity to disseminate valuable scientific knowledge and build dialogue with society. In times of post-truth and disinformation, the university remains a place where reliable research is conducted and objective truth is sought. At the same time, we are aware that our university operates in society and for society. Therefore, we consider the social impact of science on the environment to be crucial – including institutions, business, media and the entire community.
What is popularisation of science?
It is a reliable transfer of scientific knowledge to society in a simple and understandable way in order to arouse interest in the processes that govern the world and help people find their way in it. At first glance, it all sounds simple, but is it really?
The detailed programme and registration form (in Polish) are available on the website of the Stowarzyszenie PR i Promocji Uczelni Polskich "PRom". Participation in the conference is subject to a fee.
Not only will the conference be a platform for exchanging experiences and knowledge, but also an excellent opportunity to build relationships and cooperation between representatives of the academic world and practitioners in the field of public relations, promotion and communication.
The event is addressed to both academic and administrative staff interested in the following issues:
- How to popularise so that the message is clear and understandable, and at the same time carries the necessary dose of knowledge?
- How to identify individual target groups and adapt appropriate information channels to them?
- How to organise the work of science popularisers at universities?
- Can generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools come to the aid of popularisers?
- How to combine science and art using the example of “art & science” activities?
We will get familair with the capabilities of the Polish language model PLLuM with particular emphasis on generating and analysing content in the area of media communication. We will consider how to enter the next level of cooperation between universities and science centres, we will visit exhibitions and displays at the EC1 Łódź Science and Technology Centre, we will learn what the third criterion in the evaluation of universities is.
The event programme is supervised by Prof. Krzysztof Pabis, the University of Lodz Vice-Rector for Popularisation of Science and Education, who addresses the following words to us:
Visit the "Popularizatorium", enter even for a moment. Perhaps you will stay here longer. If you accept our invitation, you will be led by the best guides, for whom the labyrinth of science is always a straight path.
We invite you to participate in the conference!
EC1 Łódź – Miasto Kultury is a partner of the event.
