Konferencja jubileuszowa Wydziału Studiów Międzynarodowych i Politologicznych UŁ – Postęp czy regres? Jaki będzie świat po nowej zimnej wojnie?

On 26-27 September 2022 the conference commemorating the twenty-second anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of International and Political Studies, University of Lodz was held. Nearly 200 guests and speakers from the most important academic centres in Poland as well as international security specialists from Sweden (Prof. Stefan Höjelid) and Finland (Dr. Timo Hellenberg) discussed the contemporary internal and foreign policy of states, military and non-military conflicts, broadly understood security issues, phenomena related to identity and cultural crisis, as well as those related to social and economic transformations taking place in the modern world.

The inspiring debate with the participation of international experts entitled: The Future of Central and Eastern Europe after Ukraine – Russia War as well as the exciting panel devoted to New challenges and threats to security were moderated by Professor Ryszard Machnikowski, Dean of the Faculty.

The aim of the conference was to present forecasts for the coming decades based on the analysis of the events of the past decades of the twenty-first century. Additionally, at the Faculty and in the Training and Conference Centre, University of Lodz an exhibition devoted to the life and work of deceased professors: Waldemar Michowicz and Stanisław Konopacki was organised. Professor Waldemar Michowicz – the founder of the Institute of International Studies, which was an organisational direct precursor of the Faculty of International and Political Studies, and prof. Stanisław Konopacki, an outstanding researcher of European integration, founder of the Department of European Studies. As part of the exhibition, the latest monographs of employees of individual departments of the Faculty of International and Political Studies were also presented.

The jubilee celebrations were held under the honorary patronage of the Lodz Voivode, the Marshal of the Lodz Voivodeship, the President of the City of Lodz and the Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers (ZPP), which co-financed the events. The celebrations were marked, among others, by the speeches of the Vice-President of the City of Lodz, Adam Pustelnik and prof. Agnieszka Kurczewska, Vice-Rector for External Relations, University of Lodz.
