Trips of students and employees of universities as part of Erasmus+ in the 2020 edition.
The ongoing presence of the University of Lodz among Polish universities with a very high number of mobility opportunities is a huge success, but also a commitment to further work to improve the quality of mobility and maintain good numerical results under the Erasmus+ programme.
University of Lodz has been participating in the international academic exchange for years, and the Erasmus+ programme (and its previous editions) has always been in the spotlight. There is a growing awareness that contacts established during the stays at partner universities and the experience gained are conducive to scientific and personal development, hence the constant increase in enthusiasts of this programme. The high position of the University of Lodz among Polish universities in terms of outbound and incoming mobility is the result of our joint effort: the Erasmus+ programme coordinators at faculties and administration employees. The International Relations Office team takes care of the whole process: from the project application stage, promotion of mobility and individual support for participants, administrative and substantive support for trips, financial settlement to reporting of the two-year project
– says Prof. Eleonora Bielawska-Batorowicz, the University of Lodz Rector's Representative for International Exchange Programmes.
Erasmus+ is a European Union programme that supports educational exchange. Under the programme, students can study abroad, carry out internships, while employees can take part in teaching abroad or training mobility and implement international educational projects. Erasmus+ countries include EU Member States, as well as Iceland, North Macedonia, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia and Turkey.
The entire implementation of the programme is supervised by the European Commission, which manages the budget on an on-going basis and determines priorities, goals and criteria. At the University of Lodz, the Erasmus+ exchange is coordinated by the International Relations Office, in close cooperation with the faculties, mainly coordinators for international mobility, who are responsible, among other things, for: negotiating contracts with partner universities, recruiting and qualifying participants.
The European Commission is the initiator of the Erasmus+ Programme. Through central and national agencies, based on the evaluation expressed by the beneficiaries and participants of the programme, it sets priorities, targets and criteria for the programme on a European scale, periodically for a period of 7 years. The overarching goal of mobilities projects in the current perspective is to "contribute to the establishment of a European education area with a global reach and strengthen the links between education and research activities."
It is worth knowing that the Erasmus+ Programme has new priorities in the current perspective. These are digital transformation, inclusion and diversity, the so-called "green travel", participation in democratic life and active citizenship. The above objectives translate into the possibility of implementing previously known mobilities also in a mixed formula.
The preferred form of trips are short-term mobilities with a mandatory virtual component, including: as part of the innovative Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), organised in partnership with, among other things, three foreign universities. Students, doctoral students, academic and administrative staff may be participants of BIP.
We encourage the University of Lodz community to follow the information in the Employee Service and on the website.
